Ride Guidelines

When planning or attending an event, please reference our Ride Guidelines below

Social

A relaxed ride, typically 40 - 60 miles at a sensible pace, Cafe stop is standard.  We tend to avoid overly hilly routes and the pace is targeted at Hook Velo Inters Level.  This can vary from 15 - 17.5mph average depending on the elevation, wind direction etc, but it is what you would expect a typical club run social to be.

4C's: Chat (if you want to), Coffee, Cake, and Cooperation.

Even with split groups we want to ensure we get time together at a stop and that there is always the option to switch groups on the way home.

  • Group Size - A maximum of 10, splitting in to smaller groups.  Each group to have a ride leader (main responsibility to keep everyone on route)  Groups organised at ride start.  As these are typically on Sunday we will often have quieter roads.

  • Drop Policy - A NO Drop Policy applies.

  • Ability - If there are multiple groups, mix the abilities

  • Route Planned - Yes, pre-planned route required, please try to have the route if you are using a GPS device.

  • Scheduled - Organised in advance and shared on our club calendar.

Training

Anything from a fast ride to learning a skill with likeminded club members.

Feel free to ask for something if it isn't offered, others may have the same interest and there will always be someone happy to assist.

  • Group Size - Determined by the organiser with common sense and abilities in mind.

  • Drop Policy - Up to organiser, type of training ride and group agreement.

  • Ability - Group rides by ability where applicable.

  • Route Planned - Not mandatory but generally one is posted in advance.

  • Scheduled - Posted on WhatsApp and if a regular session it can go in the club calendar.
