Ride Pace and Grouping
The pace for our ride to the coffee stop will be determined on the day, considering the abilities and number of participants. Â Our objective is to have a relaxed group ride. Â However, we may form multiple groups to cater to different paces and ensure safety. Â On the return leg, those desiring a faster ride can go ahead, we will ensure no one is left behind.
Frequency, Departure and Route Information
- Frequency: Every Sunday April - October*, except the 2nd Sunday of the month which will continue to run our Sunday Social Ride.
- Departure Time: 09:00 from Newnham Cross Road
- Pick-Up Points: Where suitable, we will include scheduled pick-up points to accommodate members living further away.
- Route: Routes will be shared in advance on our Club calendar and typically cover 50-60 miles across Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire, and possibly West Sussex.
Group Formation and Safety
- Group Size: Groups are limited to 8 riders for safety, each led by a designated ride leader.
- No Drop Policy: We uphold a "no drop" policy on the outward journey. Â For the return leg, if anyone is dropped from a faster group, they can fall back to a group behind them.
- Average Pace: The average pace for the outward journey is typically 16-17.5 mph.
Guest Participation
Guests are welcome and may join us for up to 3 rides as an introduction to our club.
Route Changes and Communication
Routes may change due to roadworks, events, or adverse weather conditions. Such changes will be communicated through our WhatsApp group. As our club grows, we aim to offer more groups and a wider range of paces.
Suggestions Welcome
We encourage members to share route ideas, as we aim to offer both tried-and-tested classics and new suggestions.
*We will review the running of this and extend into Autumn/Winter if there is demand.
